AI-powered search has changed how some people discover and compare information, but it has not removed the need for a technically sound website and genuinely helpful content. The most useful strategy is to strengthen fundamentals and measure what can be observed.
Start with eligibility and quality
Google’s guidance says the familiar SEO foundations remain relevant to AI features: pages need to be crawlable and eligible for Search, important information should be available in text, internal links should make key pages discoverable, and structured data should match visible content. There is no special schema or file that guarantees inclusion.
Measure visibility with context
Use Search Console and analytics to review impressions, clicks, qualified visits and conversions. Google’s generative AI performance reporting has expanded, giving site owners additional ways to examine visibility in generative AI experiences. Availability and report scope can evolve, so check the current Search Console interface and documentation.
Build content worth citing
Answer real customer questions with specific expertise, clear explanations, original evidence and useful examples. Make services, authors, company details and sources easy to understand. Avoid pages that merely repackage common advice or promise inclusion in an AI answer.
A practical monthly review
- Review technical coverage and indexing for important pages.
- Compare Search Console visibility with qualified traffic and conversions.
- Refresh outdated content and add genuinely useful information.
- Record methodology changes before comparing performance periods.
